GPCA Canada Goose Egg Oiling 2019
The egg oiling program has been in place since 2003 and its success at limiting the goose population on our lakes has been valued by us all.
For those who aren't aware of what it was like before GPCA began the program, there was easily 300 "Resident" geese on Little Lake/Gloucester Pool. The flocks were grazing on cottage properties, leaving and unbelievable amount of goose droppings behind. NOTE: Each goose drops 1 to 1-1/2 pounds of feces per day.
Health Canada warned those who called them, not to let our children and grandchildren use the lawns, beaches and water where large flocks of geese had been active. High e-coli readings and swimmer's itch became a problem on our lakes.
The ice will soon be melted from our bays and our egg oiling volunteers will be out looking for Canada goose nests. If you see a nesting goose, please let us know by sending an email email@example.com or calling Francine Albrough at 705 538-2526 and we can make sure the eggs get oiled.
This is the year to renew our permit from Canadian Wildlife Service. As part of the application, we need to show consent to oil Canada Goose eggs on your property. Please email your consent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name, address (where oiling can take place) and that you are in favour of oiling Canada Goose eggs on your property for the years 2019-2021. Thanks for your help.
